Looks like he led a full life. I've had the opportunity to meet a few of those brave men who fought in WWII, but they are getting fewer and fewer in numbers.
Thanks Sam.

He was a good lookin' feller too.... ... yep, he always thought so. Now ... just so that don't sound mean, me an' Leonard had that kind of friendship. He was a kidder, joker, loved a good trick ... on somebody else. One year hunting on the family place in Virgina, as the week wore on I kept feeling more and more tired ... like I was weighed down. After the hunt, back at home, cleaning up my stuff... I found the back pouch of my old Woolrich hunting coat full of rocks, bones, sticks, anything he could cram into the game pouch without me noticing. Next time I seen him, I owned up to gettin' duped ... it was one of the best laughs I ever seen him have. He gave my youngest son his old .257 Roberts in a 722 Remington. It's upstairs in my gun cabinet. The boy's afraid it would get stolen at his house. Leonard took black bears, deer and turkey with that rifle. He was a good hunter and a good friend.

Did find time to finish pourin' what lead I had left this weekend....So that makes me without sinker lead for now but, with several hundred sinkers.....Might be enuff to last me and Ole Lyndell (with two L's ) the rest of the summer.

I'm way behind on yard work. I clean and mow about 2 acres on my little place. Finally got the fallen tree of the grapevine yesterday and about half the maiden grass cut off. It's startin' to sprout this years growth under the snow. Hope I can get the rest cut today.
We got warm temps and rain in the forcast. There is still major snowpack in counties to our north (as well as ours). Greenbrier River is lookin' dangerous.

Sam, I think so far we haven't been to bad, the snow melted slow of the course of a week as opposed to one day, and we didn't get as much rain as they thought we would. just hope any high water goes down before the 276th so I can fish in a tourny.

The local news media has already started their 'sky is falling' 'run out and buy grocerys' forcasts. I'm out of the flood plane, but I hope we don't get the rain they're predicting. It will make it bad for a lot of folks. All this ends up in the Ohio too.

Yelp it does....and it's startin' to show the Northern waters noe... Today Ohio River stage is at 19.96 ft and they are showing 25.90 by next Wed. And that rain you were talking about just come thru. here headed your way. We did't get much but, most of it hit North of our little world, so it'll come back down on us .. All the old timers are gettin' ready for some high water this year....Now when I say the old timers are gettin' ready....I ain't talking about goin' to the stores for food... I'm talking about gettin' all their fishin' stuff ready....Cleanin their boats out and spoolin new line on their reels.
Oh, by the way..did I mention that I went and set some brush lines out yesterday....Headed out this AM early to check them .. Hope to have a pic or two later today.

By late last night, (I worked till midnight), they'd backed off over 3 foot on their earlier predictions for the Greenbrier River. That should keep it just shy of the road here. I hope it's even less. Folks really need a break from the weather here.

The Missouri is above flood here by my house, it's over 25' and isn't going to crest till the middle of the week. I think I'll finish the boat as the current is about 12 ro 14 MPH.
