A few of us 'round here will soon be gettin' a little ... uh ... 'long in th' tooth' ...
We tend to like thinkin' about th' good ol' days.
Do you remember Virgil Ward, his Canadian and Alaskan fishing trips and his silly assed 20 gallon aquarium he ran that beetle spin through at the end of the show and tried to convince us it was "One of the lures we used on this fishing adventure."

"Championship Fishing TV Show Theme Song" From the lakes of northern Canada To the Gulf fo Mexico. Wherever fish are biting That's where we're going to go. There's a lot of exciting country Just waiting to be explored. So join us now in the great outdoors, The World of Virgil Ward.

HOT DANG .... We're off ! ! !
Nope, Sky King, Penny and the Songbird were on even before Curt Gowdy and ABC's Wide World of Sports. They were around for Peter Graves and Bobby Diamond in 'Fury' "The Story of a Horse ... and the boy who loved him."
'member Lash LaRue ... anybody?

I cheated a little but, I do remember him.Alfred La Rue was an actor who had done a couple of musicals and appeared in a Western film in 1944 as the Cheyenne Kid. He was exceptionally skilled with a bullwhip which is what got him cast and renamed as Lash La Rue, the character that he would be best known for over the rest of his career. That 18 ft. long bullwhip was his trademark!
He was a star of B-grade Western movies in the 1940's and those movies were recycled into the 15-minute TV shows which aired during the first 4 months of 1953. Attachments:

Most of us old coots like to talk about that kind of stuff. Things we grew up with. Things we learned along the way ... and the oftentimes gracious ladies or gentlemen we learned them from.
My Grandfather taught me how to half sole a sled. I'll never do it, but I know how.
What kind of lessons did you fellers learn comin' up?

Lot of the greats are gone, Bob Hope, Red Skelton, Jack Benny, Milton Berle, George and Gracie. To me, those really were the good old days.

Got nothin' agin' 'em. They were part of my growin' up too. Matter of fact, remembering how shy Cher was in the early days, I sort of admire the way she turned a little rambunctious and pretty much told the world to kiss her patooty.
Now, ya wanna get me pissed off ... just mention Jane Fonda.

Not THAT long ago, but anybody remember the Terrance Hill/Bud Spence spaghetti westerns. "My Name Is Trinity", "Trinity Is Still My Name". I liked those. Good fun movies.
