Sometime years ago my Uncle “Winfred” Jim as he was known to just about everyone but family, got into western quick draw competitions and used to practice with a single action .22 and was quite good from what I hear! Everyone knows that beer and unloaded weapons don’t mix! Well it was bout 7:00p one balmy South Arkansas evening and as most Arkansas boy’s Uncle Jim liked to have a few cold ones, which is ok with me. Now I don’t know what time it was or what made him decide to practice this particular evening but it turned out not to be a very good idea. It seems that after making sure that the firearm was safe and making several successful quick draws Uncle Jim proceeded to shoot himself in the leg with said unloaded .22! At this point I’m rolling and cant contain the laughter and he says to me and the others that were hearing this story “wait it gets better” Uncle Jim then says “ you know how when on Gun smoke, Matt Dillon will shoot a bad guy in the leg with his .45 Long Colt ? and the bad guy don’t even fall but just runs off? Well boys I’m here to tell y’all that shat just don’t happen! When you get shot with a gun, any gun there ain’t no runnin off the get fixed up by the doctor or another bad guy that can dig the bullet out of whatever part of your body it has happened to find its way into”. Apparently when one has sent a round through the barrel of his single action .22 and into his leg, one tends to lay there on their living room floor and scream for the neighbors to come and help him!!!! I crack up every time i think of this story
