Sorry, for leavin' y'all hangin'...Storms came thru here last night and you know what that does to our power system here in KY....It gets dark. Ok, back to the "Un-Told" story of the Fire in Sturgis,KY on 04/7/2010 around 2 in the AM... The alarms went off approx. 2 AM at the Sturgis,KY fire department , a small town in Western KY with a pop. of about 1900 people and several dogs ,cats and skunks. When arrivin' on the scene , the fire dept. knew they were going to need some help , and fast....7 more fire dept. in the area were called in. The rescue squad was called in to bring the hot dogs and marshmellows, 'cause they knew they were gonna be there for a while. 10 th street and Washington ... Is where I once lived...Years ago... Three Shotgun Houses sit side beside in the middle of the block... With a brick house on the South end and a Slate sided house on the North end of that same block. For some unknown reason the wood framed house on the south end of the block (next to the brick house) was thought to be the one that started fire first... That's the only house that had people livin' in it at the time of the fire. The wind was figured to be blowin' from the South,South West approx. 20 mph and gusting up to 35 mph.. That's what was thought for the reason of the fourth house (across the street) to catch fire. This is all that was left of the first house on the South end of the fire.. These other pictures ar of the two houses next to that house and the last picture is the one across the street of the first three More on this story later....More pictures and interviews with the Sturgis,KY fire Department and some people that was just walkin' by.
Was this just an accident or was it "Urban Renewal" as some are calling it...Why was the County Road Department called in to clean the mess up before the Fire Marshall got there? Keep in mind it's election year and the battle for city mayor is heating up.

Well, to clarify things a little.....This fire was started before the rains got here. After talking to several of the firemen that was on the scene, this reporter really thinks that it was a "strange" accident ( because that's what all the county's officials wants us to think).
News Alert ! We interrupt this news report for a 'nuther news report...
Old Man Smiley was seen casting for bait this same AM of the fire.... Results of his bait entrapment was as expected..28.5 lb blue that almost whooped him before he finally landed this monster. More at 10.

Well,I guess it's a good thing that me and ole Lyndell (with two L's) have got other means of making a livin'...'sides fishin'.. If we didn't , we'd starve to death. Put the boat in around 6 in the AM on Sat mornin'... Headed out for our favorite holes.... Found them "EMPTY".. Nary that first fish... We had plenty of good bait and pretty weather but, them fish just said "NO"... We fished for about 6 hours and with very little luck, we ended up with two... yes I said 2 catfish. After comin' back to the ranch later that same day we found that the river was fallin' like a rock and the barometer was goin' up like a rocket. Don't know how you guys feel about that Barometric Pressure stuff but, when ya got one goin' up and the other goin' down as fast as they were Sat. I think it has a lot to do with your catchin' any fish. Might try agin today...

The creeks and the Ohio & Green rivers here at Daviess County are still up. I guess Newburg Dam is still holding ours back. Still lots of back water here as well. Do not think you you can get away with having your stages at a normal level as our water is still coming your way. Sorry!!! Billy
