The Loss of a Friend

Today just didn't start off like a regular day....
I got up ,fixed my coffee, checked my phone to see if I had missed any calls....( missed one last night) It was from the Capt. ( Capt.Kirk as we all knew him).
I fed the cats and went out on the porch to drink my coffee....
After doing this I decided to fire up the computer and see if I had any emails.....
None that was important ... Clicked on my FaceBook to check out the gossip that's always on there.... Yep same ole stuff...
Noticed that my chat bar was blinking... Good Ole boy .. Billy Shain... So I hit him with a Hey ! like always....But, this AM wasn't like the same...We talked about the Buddy Ball crew for a minute then he ask if I had heard........ The Capt had passed away....
No but, I did have a call from his number on my phone...
I told Billy to have a great day.. And then I dialed the Capt's number...
It is true....Saturday we lost a good friend... Capt. Kirk ( Kirk Mathews) had passed away.
My phone call that I had gotten last night wasn't from the Capt. but, his wife.... She was trying to tell me about the Capt. before I heard it from some other source..
The Capt. has been sick for a long spell and now I guess it had finally come to an end....



I didn't know the Capt. as well as some of you did but, what little I did know of him was good.... He was a fisherman, a friend and a cyber buddy . We talked a lot over the internet and on the phone... Never did I get a chance to sit in the same boat with him or fish with him off the bank but, we did meet in a few places while fishing and he did come to my house a couple of times as he was passing through KY.....
I will miss he's calls and the few hours a week we talked on the internet...
I hope now he's pain is gone...

Don't worry Capt.. We'll fish together one day...again.

this un here hit hard....aint seen him in a long spell but shur got some good memories from ky lake n elsewhere of us all gittin tgether,chasin roun in the boats eatin n jus visitin....everythin hes been goin thru healthwise fer years least his pains gone now...shur gonna miss him n my thoughts n prayers goin out ta the missus n family

Sorry I was the one to have to tell you Soupy. I wish I knew him as you did other than all the stories he told.

I sure am sorry to hear the Capt'n passed on. I had the pleasure of fishin with him a couple times here in Florida. He'll be sorely missed. RIP Ole Buddy.
