A local talk radio show asks questions on the weekend through Facebook and give the responses on Mondays show. Below was the question and my answer.
Joe Lowe Morning Show: Weird Weekend Question: What's the weirdest or most exotic pet you've ever owned?
I know that when they talk exotic pets this is not what they are looking for but I did share it with them and now you.
We had lots of critters as I was growing up. We had squirrels that were from a tree that was cut down beside my dads work, a duck that was from being hit by a car as I remember it, Turtles, and a dove that was blown out of its nest from a storm. The dove was feed meal mush but often ate from my plate. We sat out on the pick-nick table often and one day after eating I was working on letting it practice flapping its wings on my finger and all the sudden it flew off over the hill. From time to time we would have a dove come close to us as we sat on the pick-nick table and wondered if it was the one we raised. We never knew as dad feed the birds all the time. Great child hood memories.

Good story Billy... I remember most of the little critters we grew up with and the one that stands out the most for me was a Young Barn Owl... After we kept him for several months, he flew off but, stayed close by for years. Don't reckon them people would want to hear about my critters that I take care of now...Too many to talk about...

i once had a pet squirrel i called squeakers. one day after school i came home to find a big grey tree squirrel beating up two babies. i scared off the big one, and when i checked out the little ones one of em was dead. the other one was so small it was hiding in the bark on the tree. so i wrapped it up in my shirt and took it in. bottle fed it for acouple weeks and in no time every day when i got home from school it was waiting for me at the door like a dog. coolest pet i ever had. one day i decided it was time and i let it out. it was hesitant at first but then it took off. it hung around for ayear or so then one day i never saw it again.
