There are some small lakes around me. Mostly in city, or county parks. Main fish are blue gills LM Bass, and catfish! (Channel cats, Flatheads are an invasive species in NJ) Sometimes on lazy Sunday afternoon, I'll get my UL gear and my Bass gear and head to one of these lakes. I'll use the UL to hook up a gill and put it on my Bass rig and wait for a Bass or Channel to come on by. Great way to remember a Sunday Afternoon!

I was doin' that with a friend in a little lake at Lovingston VA one day. Just catchin' some gills for supper. Had my UL propped in a shoreline bush takin' a break. Four lb. test, #8 gold salmon egg hook, tipped with about an inch off th' big end of a night crawler.
Hooke and landed a 12 pound channel. Biggest fish ever caught out of that lake. They called the newspaper folks out and everything. We were visiting the friend ... well hell ... brother in law ... again the next summer and went out to the lake. I walked in the door of the tiny bait shop and the lady there recoginzed me immediately.
"Hey, I have something for you." And she had saved me a pic of the fish. If I can find it I'll scan it in.
